888,477. Valves. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 29, 1958 [Jan. 29, 1957], No. 3061/57. Class 135. [Also in Group XIII] A valve for the cold water inlet 22 to a displacement storage water heater comprises a needle 34 moved against spring 32 to restrict opening 24 when water flows around flats 31 on a piston 29 which carries a non- return valve 38 seating at 25 to prevent reverse flow. The spring first engages the seat 24 and is then compressed to its " hard-up " position to act as a stop, preventing complete closure of the needle valve. The piston may be downstream of the seat 24.
