Abstract

1,003,042. Gas blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. June 22, 1962 [June 26, 1961], No. 24054/62, Heading H2B. In a gas blast circuit breaker having a resistor 16<SP>1</SP> and auxiliary contacts 19, 22 in parallel with the main contacts 20, 21, the resistor 16<SP>1</SP> and the contacts 20, 21 are housed in separate high pressure gas chambers 15, 14 respectively. The two chambers are connected only by a non-return valve 30 so that the resistor chamber can be supplied with compressed gas but gas heated by the heavy fault currents in the resistor cannot return to the contact chamber. The metal resistor chamber has a number of cooling fins 24 and a relief valve 33 to prevent excessive pressures in the chamber.
