Abstract

1,003,011. Compressors. M. CLOUSEN, [trading as FIRMA DANFOSS VED. ING. M. CLOUSEN]. May 14, 1962 [May 18, 1961], No. 18526/62. Heading FIN. [Also in Division F2] The head of a compressor cylinder 2, Fig. 1, is closed by a valve plate 4 embodying inlet and outlet ports 6, 5; a gasket 3 is interposed between plate 4 and cylinder 2 whilst a cover 7 houses the outlet valve. The movable inlet-valve closure-member 8 is rectangular and is fixed in a recess at one end 9, Fig. 2, only, the opposite end being formed with a projection 11 that overlies a further recess 12; an aperture 13 in the member 8 coincides with the outlet port 5 whilst the edge 14, Fig. 1, of the inlet port 6 provides a seat for the member 8. An annular piece of metal foil 16, Fig. 2, or other material is disposed round the head end of the cylinder 2 but is shaped so that it is interposed between the member 8 and plate 4 at the fixed end 9 of the former whereby with the compressor inoperative the member 8 forms an incomplete seal with the seat 14. During the compression stroke the member 8 is deformed to fully engage the seat 14. When the compressor is stationary any leakage in the outlet valve would escape through the inlet port 6 so ensuring that the compressor will readily start.
