Abstract

1,001,276. Washing granular materials. PREPARATION INDUSTRIELLE DES COMBUSTIBLES. Aug. 22, 1962 [Sept. 4, 1961], No. 32302/62. Heading B2H. Apparatus for densimetric separation of solids comprises two wash boxes 1 and 2 with an arrangement as at 4 for lifting the heavy fractions which is mounted upright in a plane parallel to the direction of flow of the light products in the washboxes, the point of discharge 20 of the heavy fraction from the apparatus being positioned between points of discharge 18 and 19 for the light fractions. Heterogeneous raw material is fed into washbox 1 in the direction 13. The light fractions float on the liquid in the washbox and pass over the weir 18. The heavy fractions collect along the sloping wall 3 whence they are lifted by the wheel 4 and discharged into a shoot 6 by the conical hub 5 of the wheel. A bifurcated spreader 7 and 8 discharges the heavy fractions into the washbox 2 where the lighter fractions float over the weir 19 whilst the heavy fractions are lifted from the sloping wall 9 by a wheel 10, similar to that at 4, into a shoot 12 for discharge at 20. Alternatively the same raw product or different products may be fed to both washboxes separately and the heavy fractions from each be discharged from shoots 6 and 12 symmetrically rearranged.
