Abstract
1331296 Sorting coal RUHRKOHLE AG 23 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 45369/70 Heading B2H Raw washery coal 1, which may be first de-dusted and deslimed, is fed without previous classification into a jigging machine 2 consisting of compartments 3, 4, 5 arranged in series. In compartment 3 pure waste discharged from a screen plate 3a is delivered into the bottom of the compartment by a discharge device 3b and passes through a discharge 3c into a pure waste bin 18. A small quantity of fines may enter the bottom of the compartment 3 through the screen plate 3a. T'he heavy fraction and the coal of desired particle size pass successively through compartments 4 and 5, pure coal being discharged at an overflow 6 and fed to a pure coal bin 20. The fine heavy fraction passes through screen plates 4a, 5a into the bottom of compartments 4, 5 and the large heavy fraction discharged from the screen plates 4a, 5a is delivered into the bottom of these compartments by discharge devices 4b, 5b. The discharge devices 3b, 4b and 5b may be of the cellular wheel, slide valve or tilting bed type. The fine and large heavy fractions are discharged from compartment 4 on to a classifying screen 7 where the large heavy fraction is removed as screen oversize 9 to the pure waste bin 18. Similarly, the fine and large heavy fractions are discharged from compartment 5 on to a classifying screen 8 where the large heavy fraction is removed as screen oversize to a middlings bin 19. The fine heavy fraction passing through screens 7, 8 are fed to a further two-compartment jigging machine 13 for after-sorting. Fine waste discharged from the first compartment is led to the bin 18, fine middling from the second compartment passes to the bin 19 and fine coal discharged as overflow 16 is directed to the bin 20. Aftersorting may alternatively be carried out in a heavy liquid. The mixture of waste and fines discharged at 3c may be made to pass along (dotted) line 17 to the screen 7 for resorting. Under-screen water may not be fed to the jigging machine to increase the suction effect.
