Abstract

1,263,388. Wet separating. W. FLAMRICH. 12 May, 1969 [11 June, 1968; 24 Oct., 1968], No. 24016/69. Heading B2H. An apparatus for the separation of a mixture of solids in a fluid of specific gravity between those of the solids to be separated comprises a resiliently-mounted inclined trough 3 provided with a depression 10 to which solid is fed, a mechanism 6 for vibrating the trough so that the solid is thrown along it, a nozzle 5 to supply fluid in countercurrent, and an overflow 18 adjustable in height for removal of fluid together with floats. Further depressions 10a, b, c may be provided. The angle of fluid supply from the nozzle is adjustable. The sinks may be thrown over a screen 15. The overflow may consist of slits in the side walls, which may have cover-plates (Fig. 2, not shown) and vertically-adjustable damming-plates to define the fluid-level. Parallel chains (12) separated by corrugated walls (13) assist separation, and the bottom of the trough may be roughened.
