Abstract
1,175,806. Separating solids. BADISCHE MASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H. 8 March, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 11572/68. Heading B2H. An apparatus for classifying or separating a mixture of granular materials comprises planar feeding and separating surfaces 1, 2 inclined to each other and intersecting to form a trough, the line of intersection XX of the surfaces being at an acute angle # to the horizontal, and one or more vibrators 3, 4 connected to the trough and arranged such that the direction ZZ of the vibratory impulses is at an acute angle 8 to the separating surface 2 and normal to the line of intersection XX. The trough is supported on rubber springs 5. The upper sides of the surfaces 1, 2 may be provided with a coating of rubber which may have a profiled surface. The separating surface 2 may be provided with slats (9) transverse to the line of intersection XX, Fig. 2 (not shown), and increasing in length in the general direction of travel of the mixture over the surface 2. In operation, the mixture, e.g. blasting shot and quartz sand, is fed at one corner of the upper end of the feeding surface 1, Fig. 2 not shown, and is conveyed downwards and dispersed. The fine particles (sand) creep up the separating surface and discharge at its upper edge into a trough 7 whereas the coarse particles (shot) cannot do so and fall back to the bottom of the trough and are discharged at 8.
