Abstract
1, 025, 619. Washing granular materials; filters for liquids. STAMICARBON N.V. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 1, 19631, No. 31243/64. Headings B1D and B2H. A mixture of particulate material suspended in liquid is separated from the liquid or into size fractions by feeding the mixture from a trough 1 to a passage 3 which is formed by a feed plate 5 and a wall 7 and converges towards the upper end of a sloping screen 6. The trough 1 may slope downwardly towards an outlet slot 2 and is adjustable in height by bolts 10. The wall 7 may be made of flexible material such as rubber and serves to provide a self-adjusting throat and a guide for coarse particles which bounce off the feed plate 5; alternatively, the wall 7 may be formed as a hinged plate. Parts of the apparatus are lined with wear-resistant material and the screen may be reversed when worn. The overflow fraction is directed over a plate 9 and the underflow is collected in a receiver 8. The trough 1 may be arranged with two outlet slots to feed two screens simultaneously.
