Abstract
547,957. Hoppers. WILKINSON, J., and WILKINSON, A. L. May 16, 1941, No. 6320. [Class 78 (i)] Delivery of pulverulent material from a hopper is effected by a rotatable scraper blade 9 upwardly inclined from a central vertical feed tube 10 having an opening 10a into which the material gathered is directed, the blade and tube being given a helical motion downwards. The blade 9 and tube 10 are rotated by a tube 10b having a splined connection with a worm wheel 12 and also engaging a fixed screw 14 by which it is. fed downwards. The material gathered by the blade 9 passes through the opening 10a into the tube and thence falls downward. The blade may be in two parts, the leading part levelling the material and the other part forming a skimming or gathering edge at a slightly lower level.
