Abstract

484,351. Delivering material from hoppers. SIMON, Ltd., H., and BRIAN. J. C. April 9, 1937. No. 10118, [Class 78 (i)] Hoppers, of the kind in which one or more rotating arms c sweep the material from an upper chamber b through one or more holes in the base to a lower chamber d also provided with rotating arms f delivering to a shoot g, are fitted with a pivoted flap i which automatically regulates delivery from b in accordance with the height of material in d, thus preventing clogging due to bridging in the chamber d. Clogging in the region of the outlet e causes pressure on the hanging tail-piece k of the flap and swings it counterclockwise against the action of the counterweight m thus raising the flap to cover the exit from the chamber b to a greater or lesser extent. Where multiple exits are provided from chamber b a separate flap may be fitted to each exit.
