Abstract
Pulverulent or granular non-saponaceous wetting agents, cleansing agents or dentifrices are agglomerated by mixing therewith an aqueous solution of a gum or other mucilaginous substance and precipitating the gum &c. by means of an anhydrous salt which is capable of forming hydrated cystals by abstracting water of crystallisation from the water of the solution, the amount of water in the latter in relation to the amount of anhydrous salt being not more than the amount required to hydrate the anhydrous salt completely. This latter proportion of water may be less than the amount required to hydrate the anhydrous salt completely. Anhydrous alkali sulphates are specified particularly anhydrous sodium sulphate. The materials treated comprise the substances known under the Registered Trade Marks "Lorol," "Gardinol," "Fewa," and "Teepol." The mucilaginous substances specified comprise Shiraz gum, water-soluble alkyl celluloses, cellulose ethers and alginates. The cleansing agents &c. may contain a small proportion of an alkaline compound such as sodium borate or trisodium phosphate so as to render the pH value comparable to that of ordinary soap, perfumes, dyes or pigments, or usual fillers such as kaolin. The cool solidified mass may be shaped into tablets, flakes, noodles, strings, &c. Specification 418,846 is referred to.ALSO:Pulverulent or granular non-saponaceous wetting agents which may be used as cleansing agents and dentifrices are agglomerated by mixing therewith an aqueous solution of a gum or other mucilaginous substance and precipitating the gum &c. by means of an anhydrous salt which is capable of forming hydrated crystals by abstracting water of crystallization from the water of the solution, the amount of water in the latter in relation to the amount of anhydrous salt being not more than the amount required to hydrate the anhydrous salt completely. This latter proportion of water may be less than the amount required to hydrate the anhydrous salt completely. Anhydrous alkali sulphates are specified, particularly anhydrous sodium sulphate. The materials treated comprise the substances known under the Registered Trade Marks "Lorol," "Gardinol," "Fewa" and "Teepol."
