Abstract

Detergent compositions in granular form are obtained by mixing a detergent composition (or a component thereof) in powder form with the same composition (or a component thereof) in the form of an aqueous paste in such proportions that a granular product is obtained when the mixture is dried or allowed to solidify, if necessary with agitation but without the application of heat from any external source. If the final composition is to contain substances sensitive to heat or to water, e.g. per-compounds or hypochlorites, these substances are included in the powdered portion of the mixture. In examples (1) a powdered composition containing soap, soda, sodium pyrophosphates, magnesium silicate, sodium sulphate and sodium perborate is mixed with a paste not containing sodium perborate but otherwise of the same composition, (2) a powdered composition containing an alkyl-benzene sulphonate with 10-15 carbon atoms in the alkyl group, an alkyl sulphonate of 12-14 carbon atoms, an alkyl sulphonate of 12-18 carbon atoms, soda, sodium sulphate and magnesium silicate is mixed with a paste of the same composition.
