Abstract

The vehicle boot (1) comprises a container (3) in the boot floor (2) having a horizontal bottom (5) for receiving the spare wheel (4) when placed flat. There is an upper access opening in the floor. Above the container bottom is a wheel support plate (6) which can slide vertically to be held in top access or lower stowed positions. It is raised to the top access position by three vertical helicoidal springs (9) between the bottom and the plate. The springs are each engaged in a tube (10) fixed to the bottom and in shafts (11) fixed to the plate. In the stowed position the plate is supported on the bottom by a lowering bolt (13) opposing the spring. The plate is guided by a central leg (8) having a thread (8a) into which the lowering bolt thread (12) is screwed.
