Abstract

The hinge (1) has an eye (3) attached to a fixing plate (4). A pin and a bar (5) are attached (6) to the plate and a door leaf (2). At right angles to the horizontal axis of the bar there are clips (7) extending towards the door leaf. Each male clips is shaped like a fir tree and fits into a complementary female socket (8) on the other side of the door leaf with holes (9) for the clips to pass through. The sockets are joined together forming a counter hinge. The hinge, the counter hinge and the clips may be made of very strong plastics such as polyvinyl chloride. The plate is shaped so that the bar fits into it in such a way that it can only be moved lengthwise in relation to the plate when the eye is sufficiently offset.

Description

 The present invention provides an improvement in hinges for leaves, openings or shutters.

 This new hinge is of composite structure with, on the one hand, an eye where a hinge is fixed and, on the other hand, a spar which is easily positioned on the leaf to be fitted.

 The state of the art is defined by a number of documents, the most relevant of which are the following.

 The document FR-A-2,661,939 relates to an adjustable hinge for shutter flaps comprising an eye, a strip distinct from the eye coming to be fixed on the wing, in alignment with said eye, by fixing means. The strip has a U-shaped cross section and receives, on one of its ends, between its wings and between its core and the leaf, the flat of the eye.

A decorative element is removably mounted on the other end of the strip of U-shaped cross section.

 The document FR-A-2.637.008 relates to an adjustable fitting for shutter flaps such as hinges, hinges, brackets or others.

The fitting is provided with at least one band, fixed on the leaf, and at least one eye intended to cooperate with an articulation pin fixed to the masonry and is characterized in that the eye is releasably secured and adjustable in position relative to a strip in the plane of the leaf, and is provided with at least one groove for guiding the adjusting movement. The fitting comprises at least one fixed part in position relative to the leaf, in a direction of adjustment transverse to the axis of rotation of the leaf and in the plane of said leaf, ensuring the tightening and locking of the leaf relative to the eye .

 Document FR-A-2,655,370 discloses a fixing which comprises plastic spacers, the rod of which is shaped to forcefully engage in the corresponding hinge holes and has anti-tearing means. Assembly screws engage in corresponding holes of the spacer rods, and cause the expansion and a slight shortening of the spacer rods, for assembly on a panel with honeycomb structure.

 The techniques for mounting the hinges described in the prior art are still complex since there is, on the one hand, the hinge and, on the other, means for fixing this hinge on the opening elements.

 The present invention proposes to overcome this problem by constructing hinges provided with self-stapling means. These stapling means are intended to cooperate with complementary elements which can form counter-hinges, also in one piece. For the stapling to be feasible, it is necessary that the constitution of the hinges and counter-hinges is strong enough to support the weight of a leaf, and flexible enough to allow the stapling of the hinges and counter-hinges.

 To this end, the present invention relates to an adjustable hinge for a leaf, essentially formed by an eye, integral with a fixing plate and intended to cooperate with a hinge, and by a spar which can cooperate with the plate and the leaf, by via fixing means, characterized in that the spar comprises, perpendicular to its longitudinal axis and oriented in the direction of the leaf, staples engaging in force with complementary elements, situated on the other side of said leaf, the leaf being provided, for this purpose, with holes which allow the fastening of the staples of the spar with the complementary elements.

 The complementary elements, engaging in force, are integral with each other and form a counter-hinge.

 The hinge and / or the counter-hinge and / or the staples and / or the complementary elements, engaging in force, are made of very resistant plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride.

 The fixing plate has a shape, in cross section, complementary to the shape, in cross section, of the spar, so that, when said plate and said spar cooperate, the spar can only be moved longitudinally, relative to the plate , in an adequate position to offset the eye.

 According to a first embodiment of the invention, on the one hand the staples consist of a male part called "fir tail", and, on the other hand, the complementary elements consist of a female part forming socket, the socket being able to receive, within it, the male part.

 According to a second embodiment of the invention, on the one hand the staples consist of a female part forming a socket, and on the other hand, the complementary elements consist of a male part called "fir tail" , the socket being able to receive, within it, the male part.

 Whatever the embodiment, the male part in "fir tail" has a blind longitudinal bore, in which a nipple takes place, located in the center of the female part or socket, so that the expansion of the part male makes assembly quick, unalterable and inviolable.

 The socket has, internally, circular grooves intended to cooperate with the circular tongues of a male part in "fir tail", in order to further increase the resistance to tearing.

 In a particular embodiment, the staples and the complementary elements are threaded or tapped, and the staples, integral with the hinge, immobilize a plurality of complementary elements, independent of each other and located on the other side of the leaf, by simply screwing them in.

 Each clip, consisting of a male part, has a longitudinal bore, into which are inserted, to ensure the expansion of the male part, on the one hand, the central stud of a socket and, on the other hand , a screw ensuring the fixing of the plate-eye assembly with the spar and the leaf.

 The attached drawings are given as indicative and non-limiting examples. They represent a preferred embodiment according to the invention.

 The present invention relates to a hinge composed of several elements whose constitution allows assembly without tools.

 This adjustable hinge 1 is mounted on a leaf 2, section can be seen clearly in Figure 1 and is essentially formed of two parts, a first part composed of an eye 3, secured to a fixing plate 4, and a second part, consisting of a spar 5, receiving clips 7.

 Of course, the eye 3 of the hinge 1 is intended to cooperate with a hinge, not shown in the figures, in order to allow the free rotation of the leaf 2 around this axis of articulation.

 As described above, the spar 5 comprises, perpendicular to its longitudinal axis, clips 7, which are oriented in the direction of the leaf 2 when they are going to be put in place. To do this, it is necessary that the leaf 2 is equipped with transverse holes 9 allowing the fastening of the clips 7, located on the side of the hinge, with complementary elements 8, located on the other side of the leaf 2. So that this fixing is feasible, it is necessary that the structure of these hinges 1, staples 7 and complementary elements 8, be made of very resistant plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride.

 However, it is also necessary that this material allows a slight deformation of the staples 7 and of the complementary elements 8, thus allowing the final stapling of the hinge 1 with the complementary elements 8 located on either side of the leaf 2.

 In one embodiment, which is well represented in FIG. 13, the complementary elements 8, which engage in force with the staples 7, are integral with each other and form a counter-hinge 10.

 Such a counter hinge is well represented in FIGS. 9 and 10, while the isolated complementary elements 8 are well represented in FIGS. 11 and 12. Of course, the counter hinge 10 can also be made of plastics.

 It is obvious that the stapling made between, on the one hand, the hinge 1 and, on the other hand, either the counter-hinge 10 or the isolated complementary elements 8, is carried out by simple pressure, without the use of a tool.

 This stapling is, of course, directly linked to the nature of the plastic materials of the hinges and counter-hinges, which also makes it possible to reduce the cost of maintenance of conventional hinges since there is no longer any risk of rust and d weathering.

 As we said earlier, hinge 1 is made up of two parts. The part composed by the eye 3 and the fixing plate 4 has a cross-sectional shape, clearly visible in FIG. 4, which is complementary to the cross-section of the spar 5, as seen in FIG. 8 This allows adjustment of the fixing plate 4, longitudinally with respect to the longitudinal member 5, which should make it possible to find the appropriate position for offset from the eye 3.

 The final fixing of the offset of the eye 3 is carried out using fixing means 6, such as screws, corm as can be seen clearly shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.

 According to the embodiment presented in the figures, the staples 7 consist of a male part, which is said to be "fir tail", while the complementary elements 8 consist of a female part which forms a socket. The outside diameter of each clip 7 allows it to be inserted inside the inside diameter of a socket 8. Of course, reverse mounting can be carried out, that is to say that the clips could be sockets and the elements complementary could be "fir-tail" male parts.

 Whatever the embodiment, the “fir-tail” male part 7 comprises a longitudinal housing 11 in which a stud 12 takes place, situated in the center of the socket 8.

Of course, this longitudinal housing could be a blind hole. This constitution will allow the expansion of the male part 7 inside the socket 8 for an assembly which will be unalterable and inviolable while always being as easy to perform.

 To further increase this inalterability, the socket 8 has internally circular grooves 14, well shown in FIG. 13, intended to cooperate with the circular tongues 13 of a male part in "fir tail" 7 in order to further increase the resistance tearing.

 As can be clearly seen in FIG. 1, each clip 7 consists of a male part, which has a longitudinal bore 11, into which are inserted, to ensure the expansion of the male part 7, a share the central stud 12 of a socket 8, and on the other hand, a screw 6 ensuring the fixing of the plate 4-eye assembly 3 with the spar 5 and the leaf 2.

 Nevertheless, the contribution of the screw 6 can be carried out without the need to fix the plate 4.

 According to another embodiment requiring tools, the staples can be threaded or tapped and the complementary elements can be tapped or threaded.

 In a first embodiment, the staples may be integral with the hinge and only the complementary elements will be mobile, since they are isolated from each other.

 According to a second embodiment, the staples will be mobile while the complementary elements, as a whole, will form a counter-hinge, the fixing will be carried out, of course, by simple screwing.

Claims (10)

 1. Adjustable hinge (1) for a leaf (2) essentially formed by an eye (3), integral with a fixing plate (4) and intended to cooperate with a hinge, and by a spar (5) capable of cooperating with the plate (4) and the leaf (2), by means of fixing means (6), characterized by the fact  that the spar (5) comprises, perpendicular to its longitudinal axis and oriented in the direction of the leaf (2), staples (7) engaging in force with complementary elements (8), located on the other side of said leaf ( 2), the leaf (2) being provided, for this purpose, with holes (9) which allow the fastening of the clips (7) of the spar (5) with the complementary elements (8).  2. Hinge according to claim 1, characterized in that  that the complementary elements (8), engaging in force, are integral with each other and form a counter-hinge (in).  3. Hinge according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that  that the hinge (1) and / or the counter-hinge (10) and / or the staples (7) and / or the complementary elements (8), engaging in force, are made of very resistant plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride.  4.
