Abstract

The vessel (A) carries a hinged mast (1) supported on a base (2). The end of the mast remains vertically above the loading point (3) on the second vessel (B). The coupling cable (4) carries an inclinometer (5). This cable is maintained taut by a winding drum. The pipes (13) are hoisted to the top of the structure (1) and allowed to ride down on the cradle (16). The mast may be telescopic and have a pivoted unloading platform at its end.
