Abstract

Anti-ramming or pounding device of the type used to prevent movement of a drilling tool up and down during underwater drilling from a floating vessel or platform, comprising a carriage carrying a return pulley for a handling cable and return pulleys for applying a tension to the anchoring cables, one end of which is fixed at a point of attachment and the other wound on a drum for regulating their length, the carriage being acted on by an actuator for tensioning the anchoring cables, but incorporating the improvement whereby the device is fixed to the pylon of a crane, the anchoring and handling cables coming from the device being returned by the pulleys situated on the top of the crane, and the ends of each anchoring cable being fixed to the ends of a swing bar the pivot of which is hooked to a point of the surface secured by the operating cable, generally as disclosed in the parent application but with the further improvement whereby the carriage has a vertical plane of symmetry, and the device is provided with pulleys on its lower part with their axes horizontal and perpendicular to this plane of symmetry and lateral guide pulleys on its upper part on outer side of the plan of symmetry, the lower pulleys rising on a lower running track and the guide pulleys, cooperating with an upper guide track parallel to the lower track, both tracks being situated in the plane of symmetry of the carriage.
