900,877. Conveying liquid cargoes to and from ships. VILAIN, C. Dec. 1, 1959 [Oct. 14, 1959], No. 40740/59. Classes 78 (2) and 78 (4). A flexible conduit for charging and discharging oil-tankers includes a rigid portion 9 suspended from a trolley 4 on a gantry 2 by a cable 15 running to a counterweight 16. In the form shown, the cable 15 is wound on a winch 17 which however, is left free once the conduit has been secured. The shipboard end of the conduit is manoeuvred by a portion 20, 21 of the cable 15 beyond a releasable anchorage 14; the portion 20, 21 passes to a winch 19 by way of a pulley 22 for mounting on the ship and pulleys on a gin pole 18. In an alternative embodiment the gin pole 18 and the portion 20, 21 of the cable are omitted.
