Abstract

L'invention concerne la métallurgie. Le procédé faisant l'objet de l'invention est du type comprenant la formation d'un bain de laitier 12 dans une lingotière refroidie 2, le chauffage de ce bain à l'aide d'électrodes non consommables 5, et la coulée de portions successives de métal liquide dans la lingotière 2 à travers une couche de laitier réchauffé, et est caractérisé en ce que la coulée de la deuxième portion et des portions suivantes s'effectue d'une manière intermittente, en interrompant périodiquement l'amenée de métal liquide dans la lingotière 2 au cours de la coulée de chacune de ces portions. L invention s'applique notamment à la fabrication de lingots de grandes dimensions tels que ceux utilisés comme ébauches destinées à la fabrication de rotors d'alternateurs.
