Abstract

L'invention concerne la métallurgie. Le procédé faisant l'objet de l'invention est du type comprenant l'application d'un courant électrique à des électrodes non consommables 5, la formation d'un bain de laitier dans une lingotière refroidie 2, le chauffage dudit bain par les électrodes, et la coulée de portions successives de métal liquide à travers la couche de laitier chauffé, et est caractérisé en ce qu'on diminue la puissance du courant appliqué aux électrodes 5 dans une proportion de 20 à 80 % de sa valeur nominale avant la coulée d'au moins la première portion de métal. Les lingots obtenus sont utilisés notamment pour la fabrication des rotors de générateurs électriques et d'autres pièces de grand encombrement.
