Abstract
The parent specification described the baking of prods. conveyed along a thermally-insulated tunnel through a heating zone (a); baking zone (b) and then a cooling zone (c). The gas atmos. in zones (a, c) does not move in the longitudinal direction (l) of the tunnel, but circulates in a transverse direction between zones (a, c). The novelty in the present invention is that the gas travels vertically up zone (c), horizontally above the prods. to zone (a), then vertically down zone (a), and horizontally below the prods. back to zone (c), i.e. in a closed loop. The pref. plant is a tunnel kiln, where two parallel tunnels form zones (a, c) and are sepd. by a wall with a top and bottom opening for the horizontal travel of gases in the closed loop. The prods. moving through tunnel (a) travel in the opposite direction to the prods. moving through tunnel (c). Used for baking clay and porcelain prods. As compared with the main patent, the thermal efficiency and productivity of the kiln is increased.
