Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de formaldéhyde et des catalyseurs pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé. Le procédé consiste à fabriquer du formaldéhyde à partir du méthanol en faisant passer à températures élevées un courant de gaz contenant du méthanol et de l'oxygène à travers un catalyseur, ce catalyseur étant constitué par un support monolithique comportant des passages pour le déplacement du gaz à travers ceux-ci et les surfaces de la paroi de ces passages sont revêtues ou imprégnées d'un ou plusieurs éléments choisis dans le groupe comprenant le cuivre, l'argent, l'or et le fer. L'invention est utilisable pour la fabrication de formaldéhyde.
