Abstract

La présente invention concerne un appareil de comparaison pour mots de longueur variable. L'appareil comporte des premières et secondes mémoires 11a, 11b, chacune emmagasinant un enregistrement formé de mots de longueur variable, disposées en série avec l'interposition de codes limites de mots, un premier dispositif 15 pour spécifier l'adresse d'au moins un mot dans l'enregistrement, un second dispositif 15 pour décider si les mots spécifiés par le premier dispositif sont comparés en vérifiant les chiffres les plus significatifs ou les chiffres les moins significatifs; un troisième dispositif 13 pour lire les mots spécifiés par le premier dispositif et pour comparer ces mots selon la commande du second dispositif et un quatrième dispositif 16 pour désigner une des mémoires en fonction du résultat de la comparaison et pour lire l'enregistrement. Cet appareil est utilisé dans les calculateurs.
