Abstract
A boiler for saturated or superheated steam has banks of inclined water tubes. Each bank consists of a group of three sections of inclined water tube, each section supplied by a vertical main and the steam is let away in a vertical riser. The sections of tubes are staggered so that they are in different vertical planes. The combustion gases are led through each bank of tube in series so that the flow is continuous through the boiler. The steam drum (2) and headers (14) conduct the steam away from the boiler. Feed water is supplied through the header (19) at the base of the boiler. The tube arrangement is used instead of long vertical tubes which overheat.
