Abstract

Beater mill for grain comprises a drum in which is a rotor with beater vanes which cooperate with baffles disposed on the inside of the drum between outlet and inlet shafts. The inlet shaft leads into the drum tangentially in the upper quarter of the drum periphery, in advance of the outlest shaft in the direction of rotation. On one side of the inlet shaft is a pivot valve which is retained in its end position in which it protrudes into the stream of material. The valve comprises an arcuately curved closure plate disposed concentrically to its pivot axis. On the side of the closure plate remote from the pivot axis are baffles running parallel to the pivot axis.
