Abstract

The engine rotor is mounted on a shaft (1) and has four equally spaced radial cylinders (5) which house pistons (6A, 6B, 6C, 6D). Each piston has a roller (7) which runs on specially curved track on the inner surface of the stationary casing (8). Air is admitted and exhausted through the ports (16). These ports are opened and closed by the rotation of the rotor, the end face of which slides over holes in a fixed disc. A sparking plug for each cylinder generates a spark passing a fixed contact, thus obviating the need for a distributor. The principle can also be applied to hydraulic, steam or compressed air engines.
