Four-stroke-cycle engines; driving-gear. -In an engine having open-ended radial cylinders which rotate inside a stationary casing containing inlet and exhaust ports, the front ends of the cylinders are closed and the piston-rods engage a star-shaped cam secured to a stationary shaft. The engine shown in Fig. 1 has inlet and exhaust ports 17, 18, 19, 20 respectively, two explosions occurring in each cylinder during every revolution. Packing-rings 12 are carried in recesses in the cylinders and pressed against the casing 1 by centrifugal force. Two or more sets of cylinders may be enclosed side by side in a single casing.
