Abstract

The engine (10) has a cylindrical casing (12) which is divided by local projections (46) and (42) into two chambers (50) and (52). The rotor (22) is provided with two pairs of blades (26) and (40) which slide in radial slots (66). An inlet port (54) and an exhaust port (56) are provided on either side of the projection (42). As the rotor rotates in the direction of the arrow air id drawn in the chamber (50) and compressed. The increased pressure presses the blade (34) inwards so that the air escapes past the blade tip to be trapped by the blade (34) which then continues the compression until the projection (48) is passed when ignition by the plug (58) initiated the expansion stroked in the chamber (52).
