Abstract

Capping or overcapping foils for sealing containers, viz bottles, where the blank foil is cut or stamped from a piece of mono-oriented heat shrinkable film, pref. polyethylene or PVC, in the developed shape of a skirt with an axis of revolution perpendicular to the axis of orientation. Integral with one end of the skirt blank is a flat annular collar to which the pastille or disc for characterising the seal can be attached. The seals are fitted with the aid of a tapered heating mandrel. More versatile for different size seals and more readily restrained against shrinkage during cutting or fitting. Design facilitates positioning of the ancillary disc or pastille.
