Abstract

A cup shaped container is moulded and labelled simultaneously from thermoplastic sheet by placing in the mould a label cut from a strip with a heat weldable surface, the label having its heat weldable surface facing the inside of the cup, then moulding the cup by plcing over the mould opening a thermoplastic sheet at a temp. higher than the welding temp. of the label, bringing the label into complete contact with the sheet by the action of the punch, cooling and then extracting the labelled cup from the mould. The labels can be moulded integrally into the wall of the cup without using a separate step. The labels are pref. of PVC having a weldable layer of vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer.
