Abstract

A continuous plastic tape is pref. heated and passed pref. around a roller having moulding cavities in its surface, the moulding cavities being pref. connected to a suction applied internally of the roller so that the plastic tape is sucked into the moulding cavities to produce cap shapes. The tape is then advanced past pref. a cylindrical punch which cuts the cap shapes out of the tape and applies them consecutively to the mouths of bottles advanced beneath the punch. The plastic caps are corrosion resistant, unlikely to cause injury and are applied in a continuous operation.
