1376775 Package closures; caps for containers OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 11 Aug 1972 [12 Aug 1971] 37563/72 Headings B8C and B8T A plastics container 18 is provided with a liquid-proof seal comprising a cap 16 which snaps over the annular recess 20 in neck 19, thereby pressing a sealing membrane 26 on to the beaded rim 23 of the container mouth leaving an overhanging portion 26a to function as a tear tab when cap 16 is removed. Membrane 26 consists of a thermoplastic bonding layer 27, a metallic foil 28, and a support layer 29 of kraft paper or plastics. When cap 16 is in place, induction heating is used to bond layer 27 to bead 23.
