1368041 Sealing containers; packages; caps for bottles SOC DE TRAITEMENTS ELECTROLYTIQUES ET ELECTROTHERMIQUES 9 Jan 1973 [15 Sept 1972] 1195/73 Headings B8C and B8T A thermoplastics cap 3 is sealed to the mouth 11 of a thermoplastics container 1 by means of a diaphragm 2 consisting of a metal foil 22 coated on one face with a heat-sealable thermoplastics film 21 with a lower melting point than container 1, the capped containers passing continuously in succession beneath a fixed induction heater 28 as the caps are pressed on to their containers by vertically reciprocating cam-operated presser arms 30 of an insulating material. Arms 30 rotate with a disc 8 having container recesses 17 in which the containers are held by curved guide 9. Diaphragm 2 may have a tab folded back to allow the thermoplastics film 21 to be sealed to cap 3 whereby removal of the cap breaks the seal to mouth 11.
