Abstract
The heat exchanger particularly suitable for steam raising, and steam superheating using hot metals such as sodium as heat transfer medium consists of a tube bundle concentrically arranged within a shell. The pre-mfred. tube bundle consists of a top header, top tube plate, bottom tube plate and bottom header. The tube bundle is welded to the shell, whereby the gaps between the shell and the tube plates are bridged by an arched section, solid or laminated annulus. This joint will take up all the thermal expansion within the heat exchanger.
