Abstract

A boiler or immersion heater using steam or hot water has a heat exchanger coil consisting of two sheets welded together along their top and bottom edges and also along horizontal lines, intermediately, spaced equally apart, leaving channels through which the heating medium flows. This double plate if formed into a spiral, with the ends welded to respective vertical supply and return tubes so that the horizontal channels can communicate with the interior of the tubes. Radial stiffening and support plates are attached and the inner tube can be connected by bends to another length of pipe to run parallel to the outer tube.
