Abstract

1,163,805. Tubular heat exchangers. RICHMOND ENG. CO. Inc. 20 June, 1967, No. 28387/67. Addition to 1,163,804. Heading F4S. The heat exchanger described in the Specification 1,163,804, is modified in that the heat exchange coil assembly disposed in the tank is comprised of a plurality of individual coil units nested together (C1, C2, C3, C4) in concentric relationship, each being secured to a pair of tube rings (14, 15; 16, 17; 18, 19; 20, 21), so that each individual coil unit with its rings may be removed from the tank 10 independently of the other coil units. A tubular member 42 is provided centrally in the tank to serve as a baffle, the member 42 defining therewith a compression chamber 43, such that the air trapped therewithin is subjected to expansion and contraction resulting from relatively small changes in pressure, and effectively compensates for thermal expansion and contraction of water in the tank 10.
