850,532. Electrically heated heat exchangers. SIMON-CARVES Ltd. Dec. 19, 1958 [Sept. 20, 1957], No. 29694/57. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XIII] A cross flow heat exchanger comprises tubes 1 with fins 2 and is characterised by baffles 4 fixed to the peripheries of the fins so that the fluid flow is directed around the leaward side of the tubes. The baffles may be curved and are preferably placed on a radius making an angle of 135 degrees with the direction of fluid flow. Alternatively the baffles may comprise rods which extend longitudinally through slots in the fins. The tubes 1 may be electrically heated rods.
