Abstract
A heat exchanger of sandwich construction in the form of a ceramic block, has a set of plates with square channels through them, through which a hot gas is passed horizontally at high press. Between them are intermediate plates which are e.g. trapezoidally shaped, with U or Z shaped channels. In an alternative design, long square section strips are used to form the serpentine guide channels. In a further design, similar strips are used to form both the vertical and the horizontal channels for the high and low pressure heat exchange media.
