Abstract
Prodn. of shaped bodies, esp. parts of electric switches, by spray dispersing a molten alloy contg. nobel metal(s) and non-noble metal(s), and compressing and sintering at an elevated temp. The resulting, partly oxidised, powder, is improved in that a non-noble metal is used which is capable forming mixed crystals with the noble metal; the alloy powder is moulded under a press of 1-5 t/cm2; the resulting shaped body is sintered at a temp. below the solidus temp. under an oxygen partial press. of 1 atm. to >10 atm. gauge until the desired degree of oxidation of the non-noble metal component is reached; then the body is compressed accurately to the final dimension sunder a press. of 6-12 t/cm2. Uniform distribution of the components is reached; the particle size is small. The spark erosion is diminished.
