A sintered composite metal such as an electrical contact is formed by resistance hot pressing a metal powder or compact of e.g. Ag, Pt, Ag-Cd0 or Ag-Ag Cd0 with a metal-rod of e. g. Cu which supplies the current and pressure and which is sinter bonded to the powder during hot pressing. The powder is supported in a mould of Mo, W or an alloy of Ti-Zr-Mo.
