Abstract
1,219,204. Electromagnetic relays. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 29 Feb., 1968 [3 March, 1967], No. 9854/68. Heading H1N. [Also in Division C7] An electromagnetic relay of the type described in Specification 691,207 has its mercury wettable contacts provided with surfaces preformed from an alloy of copper with platinum or nickel or platinum and nickel. The preferred alloys are (a) 5 to 55% by weight copper and the remainder platinum, (b) 5 to 55% by weight copper, 12 to 15% nickel and the remainder platinum, (c) 20 to 65% by weight nickel and the remainder copper, (d) up to 70% by weight nickel and the remainder copper, (e) platinum and copper in the atomic proportions PtCu 3 . The surface material may be a bonded sheet of the fused alloy on a base metal or may be electroplated or sputtered over the base metal to a thickness of at least 10 microns.
