Abstract

1,214,697. Electric contacts. SIEMENS A.G. 1 Aug., 1968 [5 Aug., 1967], No. 36861/68. Heading H1N. [Also in Division C7] Sintered composite material suitable for use as contact material in a vacuum switch comprises a porous sintered skeleton of W, Re or Mo or an alloy of these metals together, impregnated with Bi, Cd, Ga, In, Pb, Sn or T1 or an alloy of two of these metals or an alloy of at least one with at least one of Ag, Cu, Hg, Sb or Zn. Either the skeleton or the impregnant contains a wetting agent e.g. Ag, Co, Cu, Fe, Ni, Ti or Zr or an alloy of two or more of these in the skeleton or Al, Co, Fe, Ni, Te, Zr, alkali or alkali earth metal in the impregnant. Porosity of the sintered skeleton is 20-60%. The composite material may be screwed, clamped, soldered or welded on to a support.
