Abstract
1338332 Powder metallurgy SIEMENS AG 21 Jan 1972 [22 Jan 1971] 3109/72 Heading C7D [Also in Division H1] A process for the manufacture of a double layer sintered electrical contact member, which comprises superimposing a first layer of powder 1 comprising silver and a metal oxide, and a second layer of powder 2 comprising copper or a copper alloy, compressing the superimposed layers, and sintering the compressed layers in an oxygen-free atmosphere at a temperature below the eutectic temperature of silver and copper or of silver and the alloy of copper. The metal oxide used may be CdO, ZNO, SNO 2 , TiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , NiO or CuO and the copper alloy may have between 0À1 and 6 per cent by weight of Ag. Sintering is effected at a temperature of from 750 to 770‹C. in a nitrogen atmosphere.
