Abstract

933,547. Automatic circuit-breakers. ELLENBERGER & POENSGEN G.m.b.H. March 9, 1961 [March 23, 1960], No. 8745/61. Class 38 (5). The circuit-breaker of Specification 828,754 is arranged to have higher current carrying and rupturing capacities by providing a flexible connection 26<SP>1</SP> between the bimetallic strip 23 and the moving contact member 9 so that arcing is confined to the contacts 7.8. In addition, the casing interior walls are ribbed and recessed to prevent the deposition of particles of contact material on the walls from forming conducting paths between the contacts and other currentcarrying metallic parts. The casing walls may be provided with vents and the contacts 7, 8 may be made of a tungsten silver alloy, e.g. 30% W, 30% WC and 40% Ag.
