Abstract

The device comprises an endless conveyor defined pref. by slats extending between parallel endless chains and with their ends running in tracks, and the conveyor carries three pairs of clamps for gripping the edges of the stocking and arranged on swing arms to vary the transverse tension applied to the stockings, and a pair of pivoted opening elements which engage in, and maintain open the mouth of the stocking. As the conveyor advances the stocking is fed onto a flat shaped former lying parallel with the conveyor and the jaws are cam actuated to transversely stretch the stocking as required to feed it onto the former. After being supported on the former the stocking is treated, e.g. dyed, fixed etc.
