Abstract

The handling device includes pref. a pair of endless chains carrying gripping clamps which engage the edges of the stocking and as the chains rotate hold the stocking in a flat state and remove it from the stationary former. Subsequently the stocking is deposited in a flat state on a pref. horizontal conveyor which feed it to a subsequent processing station. Pref. the clamps engaging the upper end of the stocking pull the sides of the stockings laterally away from the edge of the former and a single clamp at the toe pulls the toe off the end of the former. Intermediate clamps maintain the stocking in contact with the edge of the former. The handling device operates automatically.
