Abstract
The steel, which has an austenitic-ferritic structure, has the compsn. 20-30 wt.% Cr, 4-16 wt.% Ni, 0.03-3 wt.% Mn, 1.0 wt.% Si, 0.2 wt.% C, balance Fe, and contains 0.05-0.5 wt.% of >=1 of : S, Te, Se, Pb and Bi. The steel may contain in addition 0.2-4 wt.% Mo and/or Cu for improving its corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance is similar to that of a known austenitic steel but it has improved machinability and workability.
