Abstract

A curtain of refrigerated filtered air is provided between the operator at the viewing position and the extruded filament (e.g. of glass or polyamide), and pref. part of the refrigerated air is exhausted through the floor into the take-p zone to cool the yarn during take-up. Pref. an annular curtain is provided from nozzles surrounding the extrusion nozzles and an auxiliary curtain is provided by a blower above the operator. Air conditioning is provided economically because part of the refrigerated air passes to the take-up zone.
