Abstract

1,134,399. Refrigerators. LITTON INDUSTRIES Inc. 13 Dec., 1966 [13 Dec., 1965], No. 55884/66. Heading F4H. In a refrigerated display case in which refrigerated air is circulated through the display space and in which air is circulated through passages 38, 39, 41 and 42 to form an air curtain 35a, an adjustable bleed opening 46 is provided in the passage 42 so that spilling of air curtain air over a front rail 37 is minimized. As illustrated, the bleed opening is controlled by a sliding damper 47 and a portion of the air stream in the passage 42 is branched off to cool ballast units 53 of fluorescent lamps 52. In modifications, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), air from the passage 42 is used to form a guard curtain which may be heated. In a further modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), a housing (66) is provided to lead air from the bleed opening over the back of the case to reduce condensation thereon.
