Abstract

1312511 Refrigerating MAX-PLANCKGES ZUR FORDERUNG DER WISSENSCHAFTEN eV 26 Feb 1970 [19 March 1969] 9487/70 Addition to 1183767 Heading F4H In a system of the type described in Specification 1,183,767 for maintaining temperatures below the # point of helium, the superleak 6 and the replenishing chamber 19 are contained in a component 5 having one or more auxiliary heat exchange elements located in the stream of gas leaving the helium II bath 2. As illustrated, a plurality of elements is formed by fins 7 provided with holes 8 which are so arranged that the set of fins is optically opaque in the vertical direction. In alternative arrangements (not shown), auxiliary heat exchange elements may be formed by helical flights or a single element may be formed by a sintered metal body.
