Abstract

Gas burner for vertical shaft furnaces as used in the metalurgical, building materials and sugar industries comprises two vertical concentric tubes for the passage of inert gas through the outer and combustible gas through the inner upwards protruding tube. A connection piece is attached to the top discharge end of the inner tube. Both tubes are fitted with conical screens which taper inwards in the direction of the upwards gas flow in the pipes. They are disposed one above the other so that they form chambers between each other, one of which communicates with the combustible gas tube and the other with the inert gas tube. The above design results in better flame distribution and also increases the space over which it is effective.
